Well, we have had quite the adventure at our house this week. The week started out with Sarah and Pat getting some kind of funky stomach bug and we were both throwing up for about 24 hours. We were so glad to get over this ordeal and we really truly thought it was rough until we got our next big whammy for the week.... Pat was at work and Sarah was taking Alex outside to play. Sarah went to close the side gate in the yard and stepped off the concrete patio the wrong way and took a big fall which resulted in a broken ankle on the right side and an ankle with several sprains on the left side. Sarah had to crawl into the house to call Pat who had to run home and save the day. Sarah ended up spending a night in the hospital so we could all figure out how to function at home and so they could monitor the baby overnight. Baby is looking great - THANK GOD! We got a wheelchair, walker, etc. to use at home for a while since Sarah won't be able to walk for about 6 weeks. Sarah has a temporary splint on until the swelling completes and on Monday will get a hard cast. This gives us a couple of weeks or so to adjust until baby comes. Pat is a little overwhelmed with everything but handling things quite well. We also have some fantastic friends who are really stepping up to the plate to help us out.
Prior to the craziness of the week....we had quite a few great adventures this month. We went to Watford City to see Pat's family. Then we went on to Bismarck and went to the zoo, which was a blast! Alex really had fun seeing all of the animals and he enjoyed the train ride quite a bit too! He is saying a TON of words these days, and was able to repeat the names of most of the animals at the zoo. On a side note, Alex also likes to talk quite a bit about eating crackers, his kitty Poly, his cars, and the Scooby Doo books. Oh, and on the way to Bismarck, we had quite the car launching experience - we were literally airborne - it's a long story but we all survived (Mom, remind me to tell you this story later because it is a funny one and it will remind you of another story from a couple of summers ago). Our other big adventure for the month was the Medora musical, which was a blast! We got to see an amazing magician as the opening act and the musical itself was fantastic too. And we got to eat some very tasty fudge from Medora!
Well, I hope that life is going smoothly for the rest of you and I hope your summer has been relaxing so far!!! We will keep you posted on when baby time comes - I am sure we will have some interesting stories to tell about Sarah trying to deliver a baby with 2 bum legs!!!! :-)

Wow-I wish I lived closer to help! I am so sorry to hear of your accident! I hope that you are able to get around a litte better now w/the hard cast. Alex looks adorable (as always) in his pictures. Take care.
Love, Aunt Marge
